Instagram Update: Auto-Posting!

For a while, the one thing that you could do on every social media platform except for Instagram was auto-post. Each week, I plan out and schedule all of my social media posts for Twitter and Facebook on Hootsuite and schedule my Pinterest posts on Tailwind. Then I plan out all of my Instagram posts for my various accounts on Planoly but have to manually post them each day. Until recently, my days revolved around the Planoly alerts that tell me when it's time to post on Instagram.

BUT NOW, Instagram has approved certain apps for auto-posting!

Instagram has partners that they have approved as legitimate applications that improve the quality and potential for your business Instagram. If you are using an app with Instagram, I recommend checking to see that it is an Instagram partner. Otherwise, it could mess with your account.

Approved apps can now auto-post to Instagram. This means that you can plan out your Instagrams, schedule them, and when it comes time to publish, the app will do it for you!

I have always been a huge Planoly fan. They're an approved partner, they have a simple interface, and they are a great brand in general (look at their cute gif below!). While I use Hootsuite as a planner for everything else, I love that Planoly is a visual planner that lets you see what your feed will look like when you add new posts.

There are still limitations to auto-posting. As of right now, you can only auto-post images to your feed. You cannot auto-post stories, videos, or posts with multiple images. You cannot use filters, locations, or tags in scheduled posts. You will have to edit the post after it is posted to add a location or tags.

To set up auto-posting on Planoly, view their instructions here.

Don't have a Planoly account yet? Set up a free account here!

As of now, you need a business Instagram profile to be able to take advantage of this new feature. However, Instagram has stated that it will be available to all accounts in the future.

I'm off to schedule weeks of Instagram posts!

Happy auto-posting, my friends!Katie
